It is so wonderful to be back in Colorado! While Northern Virginia was beautiful and I made a lot of new friends, Colorado is one of my favorite places in the United States and what better place to practice plein air painting! The light on the front range never disappoints and the cloud formations of late have been extra spectacular! I even get to paint with one of my close friends who is also an accomplished artist! If you have a chance please check out Andree Ferguson- she creates beautiful landscapes with oil- you wont be disappointed!

The weather, the ever- changing dynamic light, and the dry alpine air are all inspiring me to get outdoors to paint lately! One of my favorite things about painting outside is the change in perspective. All of us see the world a bit differently and this is readily apparent when you look at something created in this manner. The very best camera still distorts an image in a manner particular to the camera- this doesn't happen with plein air- the only thing distorting it is my brain haha! My eyes tend to draw things in the distance closer and the manner in which I see color is also more apparent in these images. Each one that I create captures a moment in time that when I look at them I can remember more vividly than were I to look at a photo or merely try to recall the moment from memory. As always, thank you for supporting the arts and I hope that I bring a small amount of joy and beauty into your life!
